A series of works dedicated to my childhood autoportrait

I have stitched these works concentrating on the visual aspects of linear drawings inspired by my childhood photographs.

I followed the unexpected shapes created using natural ink painting and lightning from the front and back side of the work.

The process and materials together triggered feelings, memories and multi-sensory experiences.

Materials: recycled papers, threads, vintage textiles (doll clothes)

Processes: natural paint on paper, free-motion machine embroidery, collage

Sizes: 24 x 32 cm

Year: 2021

A series of works dedicated to my grandmother

I have stitched these works concentrating on the smell and tactility of the materials as well visuals and linear drawing, inspired by family photographs.

Each work partly has been stitched with closed eyes (blind stitched) from the back side, concentrating on the sound of the stitching machine.

The process and materials together triggered feelings, memories and multi-sensory experiences

Materials: recycled papers, threads.

Processes: natural paint on paper, free-motion machine embroidery, collage.

Collaborative practice between

me, art therapist and her client

Tactile collaborative work between me-artist, art therapist and her client

who has a visual impairment condition.

Client made her drawings on paper with markers during the session with art therapist.

I stitched trying to replicate the drawings on different surfaces with the

free-motion machine embroidery technique.

Stitched or embroidered with the thread on the surface, the linear drawings become three dimensional and could be re-experienced by touching them.

Art therapist brought back my work to her client and they explored stitched pieces together.

Through stitching these drawings became tactile

surfaces, evoking stories and memories and reflections to us all about communication through stitched multisensorial art.

Materials: A4 and A3 size papers, water-soluble film, threads

Processes: drawing, free-motion machine embroidery

Year: 2021
